Name: Aniema Mfon Orok

Age: 21yrs

State of Origin: Akwa-Ibom State

Name of culture: Igbo Culture (Eastern Part), Abia State, Ohafia village.
About the culture:

The igbos are the second largest groups of people
living in the southern Nigeria. They are socially and culturally
diverse, consisting of many sub groups. Although the live in scattered
groups of villages, they all speak one language. The igbo language
belongs to the Niger-congo language family. It is part of the Kwa
subfamily,a  complicated system of high and low tones indicating
differences in meaning and grammatical relationships. They have a wide
range of dialects, they believe in tradition.

The Apparels:

The costume consist of the crown known as ola-olu which
signifies Authority, the neck bead known as a’ka which serves as
decoration, the hand bead known as ola-aka which signifies royalty,
the waist bead known as Gigida or ola-ukwu which shows the change from
girlhood to womanhood, the ankle bead known as ola-uku which signifies
the transition into adulthood, and lastly the horsetail known as
odunza which signifies royalty. This type of costume is expected to be worn by a Princess of the Landto any Ceremony.

The people with this culture are located in the South Eastern States of Nigeria.

Apart from the dressing, i like their cultural heritage of the ‘George’ material.

The igbos are enterprising and  hardworking. The show respect to elders, they also regard yam as the king of foods thats why the celebrate the New Yam Festival every year. Their native food is Ofeachara & Fufu.
