In celebration of World Food Day on Friday, 16 October 2015, House Of Ambience put together Uyo Food Fest, a cooking competition amongst the indigenes of the State, in Partnership with Eni Stores, a grocery shopping mall in Uyo and Beko Nigeria. This event was aimed at promoting their local delicacies and also to educate people on healthy cooking, healthy eating, food security and sustainable agriculture. Dikans & Eillen were the host.
To grace the occasion, was a Celebrity chef, Victor Akpojovwo popularly known as Kitchen Victore who pulled some stunt with his edikanikong soup and yam cubes served in wine glass.
The event had 17 contestants, including Miss Rhoda Nduaesa, Publisher of Rhodies World magazine, Prince Simeon Blogger(hypestation.com), Eso Eso – CEO Big Exudes n Cakes, Unyime Darty, Simeon Goldenchild, Otobong Smart, Enobong Akpabio, Mmenim Ekerette, Inimfon Obot, Enobong Bassey, Steve Aawsum, Kelvin Udofia, Ifiok Ekong, Otobong Billy, Idongoesit Ikpeme, Emem Emah, Prince Andy. Papers were folded and each contestant cooked whatsoever they picked and they had 30 minute to present their cooked food. On the list of foods to pick from were very local and indigenous dishes such as:
efere atama, efere editan, Efere ibaba, asa ebikpod afia efee ye usung ikpong, edikang ikong, otoh mboro, ubobok ukom, ufobo mmong bia, edesi isip, aba ntan edesi nkong(local mtn ice) ayan ekpan, moi moi mfang, asa iwa, efere ikon-brasas,
At the end of the event, Emem Emah who cooked Asa Iwa came first and won a big Gas stove, Steve Aawsum who wowed the audience with his Ibaba soup emerged 1st runner up and won a pressure pot, Rhoda Nduaesa emerge 2nd runner up and won a Barbecue Grill while, she cooked Ayan Ekpang with Efere etike and Prince Andy Akarandut emerged 3rd runner up with a beautiful mug set, Courtesy Beko Nigeria.
